At this point the rain had picked up significantly. However, the GM did not want to speak with me or even offer any apology. One of them called the GM on duty and talked to her. I walked over to the spa to make sure my wife got back okay and told the ladies there at the desk about my experience. I must say the spa staff and the spa itself was very nice. Not my problem, but they were very dismissive…again! My wife ended up walking to the spa in pouring rain and mud. I called the front desk and was told they were busy with check ins. I told this to the front desk in a text and they were dismissive. One even splashed me when passing me on the road. I called and reserved a ride for my wife to the spa, because when I walked to get lunch I go soaked and non of the staff in golf carts wanted to help me. We returned to the room and the rain really picked up. We started at the gym and I would say 1/2 of the treadmills and elliptical were not operating. The forecast called for rain so we had scheduled a spa day for my wife. Day 3 is where things turned sour for us. Food was great, ambience was ideal, and the service was awesome. Service and the cocktails were excellent!!! We paid the charge and had dinner at Bogey and Bacall’s. That evening we had cocktails at the Hemmingway bar…. It was a very nice pool and the service was very good. We decided to get a cabana at the Spa pool. We had dinner at Fish Tales that evening and that too was great. The bar by the pool was excellent and the bartenders were excellent. My wife and I had been eager to visit this resort. Bungalows has more far more hits than misses and well worth a visit and a return.… the experience was maybe a bit excessive but if that's what we have to pay to keep kids out these days, I'm ok with it. I'm not expecting a major hotel chain experience but this was just not enough for most people who care - and others commented similarly. Gym To me, its better to say you dont have a gym then to say you do then offer what was here. On that note, the place was admittedly at 30% capacity and nobody at the front desk tried to get us to upgrade or offer one for free. Who the heck still smokes in a small, closed hotel room despite the resort telling you there is no smoking? Hotels need to punish people for this stuff. We moved to a 2nd room and it was not all that much better. Room Our 1st room was saturated in a smoke smell to the point where the front desk person was visibly off-put when bringing us in there. Front Desk I hate to repeat what I read on other reviews but reception felt more robotic than a chain hotel, but the rest of the staff more than made up for it. A suggestion would be to make it more casual Mediterranean/fast casual/later night option for gyros & etc. This restaurant is ok for a breakfast or lunch setting, but dinner didn't feel right at least for this price point. Oxtail was delicious but other dishes didnt have the execution we were hoping for such the Tuscan salad or Lobster crudo. The dishes were average and some bordered on puzzling. The not-so-much: Fish Tales Ambiance of a cafeteria. We did not have a beach front room and having been there, I am not sure I would want one next time. The layout was very functional, clean and modern but negative comments are below. Room We stayed in 2 rooms and the experience was similar. I really appreciated having multiple areas to choose from to hang out. Double A Jaay Is a keeper! They offered many excursions right from their beachfront. Great staff, varied menu of drinks, great view, relaxing chairs and a fitting menu of food to compliment the experience. Pool/beach and service They had the right tools for the job. I'm not a buffet guy - but theirs's is legit and when I ordered off-menu, the kitchen staff nailed my request every, single, time.and I can't say that too often about many places. Tiki Bar Great place to hang out and catch games - plenty of TVs Breakfast This was one of my favorite points. Sauces were flavorful and dishes were well-cooked. Sea Senor Decent Mexican food in a great setting right on the beach. There was a limited bar food menu where we had some snacks like sliders that did the trick. Hemingway Bar Creative, mindful drinks in a relaxing atmosphere with a view. The Chateaubriand was the star of the night for sure and was the best we've ever had. We ordered so much from the menu and not one thing fell short of impressive. Bogie and Bacall's Surprisingly this was one of the best steakhouse experiences from the service to the beef to the sides. Management - Lina seemed to always be around to check in on us and give great recommendations. The good: Service - F&B staff and house keeping were super friendly and attentive at all times.
